Happy Birthday Hunter!
He has developed so much. When he was born he was under the growth chart but now he has exceeded that and is above the charts! I see so much of myself in him…especially his attitude. This may not be a good thing! He LOVES to be outdoors and usually throws himself when it is time to come back inside! He has started to push little trucks around the house and make motor sounds. He is all boy! He is crawling all over the place. He alternates between an army crawl and the traditional crawl. He walks all along furniture and even walks along with you if you hold his hand, but he hasn’t quite got the nerve to try it on his own yet. He will in time. He loves to eat and will eat anything! I don’t think there is anything he has tried that he doesn’t like, just like his daddy!
In the last year I have been transformed from a woman to a mother. A transformation that I feel went pretty smoothly and naturally. It makes me wonder what I did with all the free time I had before becoming a mother. Good Question!
When I woke Hunter up this morning I started singing him Happy Birthday…He looked at me like I was an idiot. But I didn’t care; I hugged him tighter and sang louder. Hunter was featured on KRCG this morning for his birthday and we plan and traveling to Cold Stone Creamery tonight to get his free birthday cake! Yummy!
Tomorrow we plan on celebrating his birthday with family and friends. I am anxious to see how he does with eating the cake. I am predicting that he only takes a couple bites and plays with the rest and then throws it on the floor. Any bets?
Here is a picture of Hunter and I this morning with our birthday hats on. The picture is terrible because I took it with my cell phone. Quite a difference from yesterday’s photo of us a year ago!

I will post pictures next week of this weekend’s festivities!

A Year Ago Today!
One year ago today…..I was in complete denial! I was scheduled for my weekly doctor’s appt, but this one was different. I needed to have another ultrasound because at the last appointment I started measuring too small for my stage of pregnancy. I remember leaving work at noon that day telling everyone I would see them tomorrow. The appointment was so surreal at the time and I am so glad Andy took off of work to go with me. The ultrasound was taking place at the OB/GYN office, while in there the technician confirmed that I was 3 weeks smaller than I should be. They went to go call/contact my doctor who was on call over at the hospital to see what she thought. Before I knew it the technician and nurse came in to tell us we needed to immediately get to the hospital for a more invasive ultrasound. We didn’t know what was going on, but we did as they said. I was extremely glad at that point that Andy was there. I would have been a hysterical mess if he wasn’t there to calm me down.
We made it to the hospital to have another ultrasound done. There they were checking the umbilical cord and the flow of blood thru it. After seeing the results, they called my doctor to tell her. She then got on the phone with me and told me she wanted to go over everything with the radiologist before she made any decisions. She told us to stay in town and that she would call our cell phone. Andy and I headed to McDonald’s so I could get something to eat. Shortly after, the phone rang. It was my doctor telling me that my placenta is not functioning property and that I needed to report to the hospital for an induction. I was in complete shock!
I was excited and terrified all at the same time. I was excited to finally meet my baby but terrified that there may be something wrong with him. When we got to the hospital I got changed and was hooked up to all the monitors. I was already having regular contracts according to the monitors, so they decided to go ahead and put me straight on Potocin. This is where things got ruff; Hunter was not dealing well with the contractions. His heart rate kept dropping really low. Every time that would happen all of the nurses would come running in telling me to roll on my right side…then my left… and then get on all fours. Being on all fours seemed to be the position that Hunter tolerated most, while not very attactive his heart rate would always go back to normal. With Hunter’s heart rate dropping pretty often, the nurses and doctor kept warning of a c-section. No Thank You!
Later on that evening I decided I had enough of the contractions (plus they warned that if I didn’t have an epidural in and I had to have an emergency c-section then they would have to knock me out, as opposed to upping the epidural) I decided to get the epidural. It worked wonderfully…a little too well. I guess it relaxed my body so much that my heart rate dropped really low and they had to inject me with some other meds to get me back on track. After getting the epidural I took a much needed nap, and shortly after I was fully dilated and ready to push. During the contractions and pushing Hunter’s heart rate was dipping dangerously low that they called another doctor to be on call for a c-section and have a pedestrian on stand-by for Hunter. Within 15 minutes of me pushing and them pulling, Hunter was born! I was so excited to hear his cry! I didn’t get to hold him until about 30-40 minutes after he was born because they were evaluating and monitor him because of his eventful labor.

Way to go Ryan!

Weekend Recap!
Saturday: Mom watched Hunter while I worked at the bank until noon. Then after picking him back up we ran home to change clothes for a wedding. The wedding we went to was of one of my friends from Jeff City was getting married in St. Martin’s. Nicole made such a beautiful bride. Hunter was wound-tight during the ceremony. He wanted down to crawl around, not to mention he was babbling at the top of his lungs. I finally had to take him to the entry way of the church so he could crawl around that was until he started hollering again so we ended up going outside until the wedding was over. It was so great to see all of my friends from Jeff City that I haven’t seen in years! I attempted to stay around at the reception until the wedding couple arrived after their pictures, but Hunter was long over due for a nap and he was letting everyone know it.
On our way home we stopped off at Wal-Mart to order Hunter’s birthday cake. I know…I can’t believe my baby is going to be a year old on Friday! *Tear* We got back home and headed back to my Mom’s to see my brother who was in town. He wanted to give Hunter his birthday presents since he was going to be out of town next weekend. He gave him an Elmo puppet book and a Snoopy motorcycle statue. Ryan is committed to making Hunter a biker!
Afterwards, I dropped Hunter off with Shanda so that I could go to a birthday party in Argyle and play volleyball. It was such a fun time. After a few hours my body was still willing to play but my arm were saying no. It came to the point where every time the ball would hit me it was nothing but a stinging pain. It sounded like everyone else was feeling the same way.
Andy had a busy day as well. He went hunting that morning, and then he headed to Cuba to go fishing with some of his family. On his way back he got pulled over in St. James while he was talking to me of the phone..oppps! But he didn’t get a ticket. He got back to Vienna just in time to meet some guys and go to a bachelor party in Dixon. So needless to say, Andy and I didn’t see much of each other this weekend. There was too much going on and we were being pulled in two different directions and we still didn’t make it to everything that was going on this weekend.
Sunday, all I wanted to do was rest! I tried to do some cleaning to prepare for Hunter’s birthday party, but he was making that impossible. Hunter was in such a crabby mood, but I think I know why now. He got another tooth in and the other one is about to come through. With as much time as Hunter and I had spent together this weekend, we were both tired of each other and was excited when Andy finally came home to give us both a break!

Pediped

Aren't these super cute? These are pictures of the two pair I bought Hunter. I bought one pair at a local store and then I got another off of E-Bay. They are so flexible and allow for Hunter's chubby feet. They are great! They actually have leather soles instead of big bulky rubber soles which are apparently better for a child's foot. They are more expensive than your average children's shoe...but I was just greatful that I could find something that finally fit.

Vacation Recap
The Thursday Evening before I went on vacation we went to a local restaurant called Morelands for my mom’s 50th birthday. We had a great time! Here is a group picture of some of us that were there.

Friday after work, Andy, me, Kevin, Kelly and Holly went to Columbia. We started off at Bass Pro because they were having a huge sale! There was a crazy amount of people there and poor Andy didn’t walk away with much because of his up coming birthday he didn’t want to buy something that I had already got him. After shopping there we headed to HuHots, of course! It was wonderful as usual!
Saturday I had to work at the bank that morning and then afterwards I headed home to get ready for Holly’s bachelorette party. The party was a lot of fun. We rented a large van (that we decorated pretty inappropriately) and headed to Columbia. We ate at the Olive Garden and then went to Déjà Vu for a comedy show and dancing. The comedian was hilarious! The dancing portion of the night went by way too fast, before we knew it, it was 1 o’clock and they were shutting the place down. Time always flies fast when you are having fun.
Sunday we headed to the river for Andy’s 30th Birthday party. I made a lot of tombstone signs with funny sayings and pictures of Andy on them that were placed along the road for Andy to see as we headed to the river. We went on a float trip for awhile. Hunter stayed in the boat with Andy. We brought along a little inflatable pool for him to play in while he was on the boat. It worked out perfectly! Here is a picture of Hunter playing in another pool up at the lot. Notice his lovely HuHot’s tattoo we got for him when we were at HuHot’s Friday night!
Monday (the official start of my vacation) I spent the day cleaning out both of my deep freezes! I know, I know I my life is way too exciting. But this job was way over due and plus I was needing to make room from my Sam’s trip.
Tuesday I went to Columbia. I first went to the Mall and looked around a little. I ended up buying some shoes and flip flips for Holly’s wedding. After leaving there I went to HuHot’s for lunch. Listen, I can’t go to Columbia without going to HuHots, even if it means sitting in a booth all by myself…it is worth it! Afterwards I went to Sam’s. I made one mistake; I didn’t make a shopping list. I literally went up and down every isle, grabbing stuff as I went along. Needless to say, my cart was over flowing by the time I was done.
Wednesday I stayed at home and did some house cleaning.
Thursday I headed to the lake. I did a little shopping at Target and then I went to the Outlet Mall. I love this place, especially when it comes to buying stuff for Hunter. They have a Carter’s, Gymboree, Osh Kosh, and Children’s Place. So in the end, Hunter loaded up with a lot of clothes for this winter. I then made my way to Wal-Mart to buy all the groceries I wasn’t able to get at Sam’s. Our house is fully stocked with food…for now!
Friday I attempted to do more house cleaning. That evening Andy went to a Bachelor party for Abe, so Hunter and I hung around the house. Kelly, Aubrey and Holly later came up to hang out for awhile.
Saturday we had Holly’s Bridal shower. She got a lot of wonderful gifts. Afterwards we went to Donnie and Shanda’s to hang out with some of the family that was in town for the shower.
On Sunday, Andy, Hunter and I went to the Lake of the Ozarks to a family cabin. We had such a great time. It rained on us for awhile, but then it cleared up for everyone to take rides on the boats and jet skies, plus go off the rope swing. Andy finally convinced me to go off the rope swing. It ended up being a lot higher than I expected, but it was still a lot of fun.
That was the conclusion of my vacation. Reality has kicked back in and now I am back at work. Booo!

It Was Bound to Happen!

Up Coming Events
Tomorrow night, we are going to HuHot's because not only are we way over due, but we are going to celebrate Andy's 30th birthday which falls on Sunday. Two milestone birthday's within days of each other, crazy!
Saturday I have to work at the bank until noon....AND THEN I AM OFF OF WORK FOR A WHOLE WEEK! All I can say is THANK GOODNESS....and I'll just leave it at that!
But that night is when the party begins! We are having Holly's bachelorette party! I can't give you any details at this time because Holly has no clue what we have in store for her. But I can guarantee it is going to be a great time!
Sunday (Andy's birthday): we are heading to the river to celebrate. I hadn't planned on it being a surprise since it is the actual day of his birthday, but as of right now he is oblivious to it. So he will be surprised (hopefully not mad) when he sees the cake and decorations.
So it is going to be a fun and busy weekend followed by a week of relaxation!

Other News!
Jacquelyn McKenzie
7 lbs 12 oz
19 inches long
So last night after work, Hunter and I made a trip to Jeff City to meet the new baby. But before heading over there, we stop off at the new Wal-Mart. Which I would like to point out….it is awesome! First of all there is like no one there and you practically park right in front of the door. Everything is so new, clean and organized. As we were walking in, I thought “Damn, I have to pee!” and with that a million things starting going thru my mind…”What do I do with Hunter?” “I can’t take my cart in there” “I’m not going to set him on the floor” “Do I keep him on my lap as I tinkle?” Seriously….what do you do!
So as I walked into the bathroom carrying Hunter on my hip, I began strolling past all of the empty stalls deciding that the handicap stall would be best for juggling a toddler as I was trying to take care of business. Anyway, as I went to open the stall door…THERE IT WAS! It was like the gates of heaven opened and a bright light came shinning down with the sound of harps playing in the background. They had a plastic chair (similar to the changing tables in bathrooms) that was bolted to the wall for you to strap your kid into as you went to the bathroom. How freaking awesome is that!!!!!!!! You know it is the little things in life, but this made my day. And because of that I had to take a picture!
Anyway, Thank you Mister Toilet Stall toddler chair/holder inventor!
Ok enough with the bathroom talk! We finally made it over to see baby Jacquelyn. Oh my goodness she is so tiny and cute. Erik is going to be such a great daddy, he just grinned ear to ear the whole time we were there. He was so proud of her and was not afraid to jump in there and change her diaper! It was so crazy to see Hunter next to her. I can’t believe that at Hunter’s smallest he was almost 3lbs less than her, but I know his head was never that small! No offense Hunter, you were just blessed with a large head! Hunter had a great time being in a new place and meeting new people. It wasn’t until we were getting ready to leave that he had had enough. But now I know why, we didn’t even make it onto the Highway and he was asleep. Ah good times!

Weekend Plans

Cell Phones
I really like the slider phones with the full key pads, but I really don't text that much. In the end, I really just want something that won't cost me an arm and a leg and that has good reception. Whatever happened to the old bulky Nokia phones...those phones worked anywhere.
I have no clue what kind of phone to get Andy. I should get him one of those newer flip phones that are heavy duty and can survive anything he may do to it. But the down side is, he finally found a camo phone case that clips onto his belt that fits his razor phone perfectly. So I would like to find a phone that is a similar size so that he can still use his case.
The only downfall about Wal-Mart is they have a limited selection. But I am sure I can come up with something for Andy and I.

ABB
Well, it is official...Andy is being laid off! ABB lays off by seniority and he was number 23 of the 25. His last day of work will be next Friday the 12th. It is just so crazy to think that Andy has worked there for 10 years and is still being laid off. You know we figured it was going to happen eventually because of the down turn of the economy, but it still makes it extremely hard when it finally happens. We are losing our health insurance, dental insurance and Andy's life insurance...not to forget his income. I know things are going to be tuff, but we will pull through and hopefully the economy will turn around and he will be called back...Hopefully!

My Friday....
Wednesday, May 20, 2009
Well....
But apparently I am a "bad parent" and "sad" amongst other mean things that were said because I chose not to take Hunter with us to Mexico. Am I the only parent in the world that has taken a vacation without their child? Excuse for me not wanting to put Hunter through that at 7 months old.
I would like to know where "Anonymous" got the idea that I have a "partying lifestyle." I am about as boring as it gets...you all know, you read my blog!
I know I should just let this comment go through one ear and out the other, especially since they didn't bother to put their name, but I am a person who takes this to the heart. Damn it, I am a great mom and I love my son and would do anything for him...and shame on you "anonymous" of accusing me otherwise!
I'm Back!
Ok, where did I leave off….oh we were just leaving for Mexico. The trip was wonderful, I could have stayed down there forever! The weather was amazing and the beach was beautiful! I will try to post some pictures in the next couple of days. We stayed at a resort that was all inclusive and that is the only way to go. You could eat and drink all day long and never have to whip out any cash…it was great! We spent much of our time on the beach and in the ocean jumping waves. We all ended up burning ourselves to a crisp on the second day even though we were re-lathering sunscreen all day long. The sun in Mexico is a lot fiercer than it is in Missouri.
I know you all want to ask….Did you get the swine flu? NO! If I had a dollar for every time someone asked me that I would have enough money to go back down there. Some people have reacted in very outrageous ways to the fact I had just returned from Mexico and they feared that I had the swine flu. I was having no symptoms what-so-ever and yet people were still scared to death of me. Their Loss!
It was really hard leaving Hunter! What made it worse is how many children there were on the resort. I could never imagine taking Hunter with us! But every time we saw a baby it made us think of our little boy…*Tear* We did bring him back a little sombrero and some maracas! Of course it looked like he had grown in the few days we were gone…not only that but he had started saying DaDa. Darn it…He was supposed to say MaMa first!
Let see what else has been going on? I have started reading the Twilight book! It is really good. I refuse to watch the movie until I finish the book. Everyone talks so highly of it that I hope I have not built myself up to much to the point where I am disappointed when I finally watch it.
I feel as if I have been so busy in the last couple of weeks. But I can’t think of what else we have been up to. If I think of anything I will let you know!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on,
Pooped on,
Chewed on,
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
Before I was a Mom.

Say what you will...
Say what you will about Biden….
And say what you will about the Stimulus Package…
But right now I am grateful for them all!!! Because of the stimulus package, tax credits and federal incentives have been given locally for the creation of a large wind farm in Missouri. By harnessing the power of wind it is making a lasting investment in America’s energy infrastructure.
With all that aside, it has given this wind farm the ability to place large orders for transforms from ABB.
Therefore my husband still has a job!!!
Even though we don’t see much personally from the stimulus package it does eventually trickle down to us all for which I am grateful!
Vice President Joe Biden is in Jefferson City today to get a tour of the ABB plant and to make a speech. Andy got to leave work a noon so that they could clear the plant out and secure it before Biden arrives, and then everyone is welcomed back in. Andy had to be at work this morning at 4am, and when he arrived there were already camera crews there waiting for Biden’s arrival. I am anxious to hear his speech and excited that of all places to go, he is going to my husband’s place of work.
