Holiday Weekend Recap!

Thursday Evening: We went down to my uncle Larry’s Lake House for a pre 4th of July party. There was lots of food, family, fun & FIREWORKS! Keith always seems to put on an excellent fireworks show, but this year he went above and beyond. The boxes for some of them were huge with a small fuse sticking out the corner. I am not sure where he found them at or how much they cost. Below are some pictures!

Friday (4th of July): We headed down to the Osage River with the Schwartze family. While there were some clouds overhead and the river was up, it was a perfect day for floating. Finally these white legs were getting some long needed sun! The food was excellent as usual and the Fireworks were very entertaining. We usually anchor a floating dock out in the middle of the river and that is where they set the fireworks off. But since the river was up and the current was swift, they were shooting the fireworks off right along the bank…which sometimes was a little too close for comfort. The funniest part of the show was when an “un-named” family member threw some lit Blackcat fireworks onto the dock in which the boys were setting off the fireworks. They had no clue what he had done until they started going off right below their feet. They began jumping and legs were flying as they were trying to get out of the way. It was sooo funny. They were about to bail into the river!

Saturday: I was such a bum, I should have went to work! I did manage to do some house cleaning and washed all the baby clothes I have accumulated from garage sales. Andy on the other hand worked hard doing some jobs with his skid steer. That evening we went down to Donnie and Shanda’s and shot off a few more fireworks. Which was not a good idea because it scared the crap out of the cows and they ended up getting out. After all of that excitement, we played some Tripoley and then some rounds of pitch until close to 2 in the morning.

Sunday: Consisted of another day of laziness on my part. After spending the first part of the day in the house, I made my way down the hill and swam/floated around in the pool. The water was absolutely perfect. Gradually everyone else started making their way in the pool as well. It was a very relaxing retreat for such a hot day!

My Shit List: #1 Wal-Mart

I am so pissed off at Wal-Mart right now, that you are just going to have to bear with me. Last night I decided to make to trip to the Wal-Mart in Rolla to finish my baby registering. Well, I got there and guess what…………………..their F’in scanning gun was broken. Yes, their one and only gun was broken! I was so mad that I had drove all the way there for nothing. I wanted to call someone to vent, but anyone who knows me when I get mad, the tears start rolling as soon as I start to talk about it. Even something as stupid as registering would turn the faucet on.

So this had left me one last resort, and that is to register online. I hate doing this because just cause it is online, doesn’t mean that they have it in the stores. So I proceeded to walk down the baby isle and write down the stuff that I needed, so I could add it to my registry online. And to my surprise when I got on their website to add the items, over half of the items weren’t on the website. What the hell? So I apologize to anyone who is going to look for the gift at Wal-Mart. People are just going to have to wing it. The ONLY good thing about Wal-Mart is that they have Free Site-to-Store shipping. Meaning, anything you find online you can have shipped to a local Wal-Mart to pick up at no charge.
The reason I am even registering at Wal-Mart is because not everywhere has a Target. And I like to make it as easy for everyone as possible.

Poor Ryan!

Last week my brother managed to break his leg during a softball game. Ouch! Apparently he was sliding into third base when he heard a pop. I asked him if it was worth it and he said no because they called him out. Initially he thought he had just sprained it, but after further x-rays they determined he had broke it just above the ankle. Because of the placement they have decided to do surgery on him. If they didn’t and just casted it, he would more than likely have problems with it for the rest of his life. For the last week he has been gimping around with his leg all wrapped up and a pair of crutches. So today is the moment of truth for his surgery. With a couple of screws later and a cast he should be ready to go for the next 6 weeks. He is a diesel mechanic for Pepsi so this means he will have to be on temporary disability. Poor Ryan!

Weekend Re-cap!

Friday: Andy had to work late so we didn’t do much that evening. We managed to grill some steaks and take it easy for the evening.

Saturday: I headed to Jeff to begin our baby registry. My intentions were to go to both Target and Wal-Mart. I went to Target first, because it is my favorite. I registered for quite a bit of stuff but I found myself holding back because I still needed to register at Wal-Mart. So after an hour or more of walking up and down the isle and oooo’ing and awwww’ing at Target, I drove across the road to Wal-Mart. I went back to the machine to begin the registry, after setting it up I took the confirmation to the clerk to get the scanning gun. That is when she told me that the gun was already being used and there was another couple in line waiting for it. Wait a Minute…..they only have one gun? How ignorant is that? Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in the world…..and each location only has one gun? I was a little pissed off. I was not about to wait a couple of hours for it, so I said screw it and I would come back another day. I did walk back to the baby section to get a feel for what they had. Apparently they are getting ready for a remodel and there is hardly anything in stock. Strike two for Wal-Mart.

Saturday Night: Andy and I headed to 5 o’clock mass in Vienna. Afterwards we had Troy’s Baptism. He did such a good job. Beth is so creative, both the gown and blanket were personalized with his name and the date. We all then headed to John & Beth’s house for some BBQ and socializing.

Sunday: We were down at Donnie & Shanda’s all day. We started off putting their new pool up. That was an interesting process that required a lot more people than we had. I would like to see how the professionals manage to put it up. After it was all said and done, the walls were standing, the liner was in place and hose was pumping in the water. The poor well was going to be in overdrive for the next day or so.

Later that afternoon, I went fishing with Carrie, Zach & Ashley. Actually I was a bystander who helped the kids un-tangling their lines, getting them loose from the brush piles, and putting the lures & weights back on their lines.

This weekend went entirely too fast, but at least I only have a 4 day week! I have managed to get off of work this next Saturday (so I will have a 3 day weekend) even though this means I have to work the next two Saturdays. Bummer!

Weekend Re-Cap!

Saturday: After getting off of work, I headed home to do some cleaning. I am in complete nesting mode! I have been doing a complete spring/summer clean up. I realized when we moved that there was a bunch of boxes full of…junk! So I been going thru each and every one of them and throwing out everything that is no use to us. It is crazy how stuff piles up! I had literally kept all my notes, papers, test, reports, etc from college. Why I had kept all of this, I have no clue. It was just amazing to see all the school work I had done, and now it is all in a burn box. Tear! I have removed numerous bags and boxes full of stuff from the house. Currently everything (I kept) is neatly put in plastic tubs and labeled for easy searching. Hopefully this last!

Saturday Evening: Andy and I went on our Anniversary Date! We had a great time. We left home and headed for Columbia to eat at HuHots! I ate so much, I was absolutely miserable (in a good way)! We left there around 7pm and decided to head back to Jeff to see what was at the movie theaters. We wanted to go see the Indiana Jones movie, but of course it started 15 minutes before we got there as well as every other movie. But the movie Get Smart was starting at the very minute, so we bought our tickets hoping they were still showing the previews. And they were, so we got there just in time! This movie was really funny! Anything with Steve Carell is hilarious.

After leaving the movie, we went to Cold Stone Creamery! This place is awesome! We always get a shake called “Cake N’ Shake.” It is made with cake batter ice cream blended with chunks of yellow cake! YUMMY! It literally taste like you a licking the beater after making a cake!

All in all, it was a great evening that we spent together! Hopefully we can make this a tradition for the many anniversaries to come!

Sunday: I bummed around the house for the first part of the day. I was supposed to go to a surprise Anniversary party for my aunt and uncle (Larry and Cindy). But it had slipped my mind, and by the time I thought of it, there was no way I was going to make in time. I feel bad the more I think of it!

Later that afternoon, I headed down the hill to watch Andy dig a hole for Donnie and Shanda’s new pool. A little over a week ago Andy had purchased a used Skid-Steer. So this was his prime opportunity to tear stuff up with it. I have to admit he did a really good job, even though he has very little experience driving a skid-steer. All in all, we now have step one complete with putting up the new pool.

Kelly showed up a little later and we went on a walk. She was pushing Aubrey in her jogging stroller. I can only imagine how exhausted she was pushing her up the hills, because I was sucking air bad by the end of the trip!

We finished the evening off with a fish fry! It was a great weekend, and now I am counting down the weekdays until the next one!

Weekend Plans

Friday (Last Night): Andy didn't get home until late after working on the farm. So we didn't do much. We did take down the spare bed that is in the soon-to-be nursery and Andy put up the crib that I bought off of E-bay. It turned out really good, not bad for half the price! Here is what it looks like.

Saturday (Today): Andy and I are celebrating our second year anniversary, even though it isn't until the 24th. We don't have big plans, but we are for sure going to our favorite restaurant HuHots! We may hit a movie up also, we'll see!

Sunday: We have a surprise party to go to. I'm not going to say any details, should the wrong person read my blog!

Delayed Weekend Re-Cap!

Friday: I had another doctor’s appointment at 8:30am. So I decided to leave even earlier and hit up a couple garage sales. The first one I went to was awesome. They had advertised it as, “Have a Boy/Having a Boy….must come!” I was there….and they were right! I loaded up on a boy clothes. I know I could have bought more, but I figured 5 Wal-Mart bags full was enough. I even found a nice crib mattress. Despite the pouring down rain, it was a successful trip.

I then went to my doctor’s appointment. It was a little less than ordinary, but all went well. I only gained one pound. I am still in shock. I was figuring at least 4 because of my ever-expanding belly! I don’t know if it has anything to do with my appointment being so early in the morning when I usually go in the afternoon. This was the first time they actually measured my belly/uterus. I was right on track with 23cm. (# of cm’s = # of weeks I am pregnant).

There was some concern about me having Braxton-Hicks contractions…which are when my uterus gets hard as a rock. While it doesn’t hurt, it can be uncomfortable. They say this is a way for your body to flex its muscles in preparation for the labor. They said most women don’t feel them this early in pregnancy if at all, and those who do feel them are usually on their second or third pregnancy. So with all this in mind and the frequency in which I have been having them, the doctor decided to check me to see if I was dilated. Which I wasn’t….Thank Goodness. That is the last thing I need is to be put on bed rest. So until my next appointment, I am to keep track of them. And if I have more than 4 in an hour, I need to go to the hospital. Boooo! But so far, it doesn’t seem to be an issue.

Saturday: I did some work around the house, and that evening we headed down to Brian and Carrie’s for Gavin’s 2nd Birthday party….an interesting one at that! After eating dinner, we were all randomly gathered in the kitchen and living room. Gavin was riding around on a little JD tractor when the back end got a little heavy and the front end came up on it causing him to fall off the back. When he fell back his head hit the corner of their stone fire place. Ouch! It literally put a hole in his little head. So Brian and Carrie headed to the hospital where Gavin for 4 stitches. Poor Guy!

While they were done, the rest of us guest just waited around and played games and cards until they returned sometime after 11pm. Once they returned, Gavin was ready to go. So he opened all of his presents and we even ate cake and ice cream. This will defiantly be a birthday for him to remember!

Sunday (Father’s Day): After wishing Andy a Happy Father’s Day, I gave him a card and a gift. The card was cute; it had a B&W picture of a baby sleeping on his dad’s shoulder. The gift I got him was a baby onesie that said “Daddy’s Little Buck” See Below!

Then we headed to the Osage River. I was so ready to do some floating and get a tan. We had been down there for a couple hours around the cabin before we ate. While we were eating, the storm clouds began to roll in. The wind was getting really bad so we all packed out stuff to leave. This was good timing because on our way home it started to pour down rain.

Baby Kicking!

This little man inside of me has been kicking since the 16th week, and Andy had yet to see it or feel it. So last night (while Andy was at work) I captured a couple kicks/punches with my camera for him to see. The video is 30 seconds long, but all the action happens in the first 10 seconds. He kicks after I breathe and my belly goes back down. So when you are watching, the first kick is at the middle of my belly (be sure to look at my pants and not my belly itself) and the second kick/punch is on the left side. Enjoy!

When Andy got home I showed him the video and he was pretty excited. Every time the baby had been kicking before I would call Andy over to look, and of course the baby would always play shy (this has been going on for 6 weeks). Then last night when we were going to bed, Andy finally felt him kick. I'm sure this is just the first of many more of these moments!

Making Strawberry Jelly!

Last night I tackled canning Strawberry Jelly for the first time. Thanks to Tillie and Shanda I had an over abundance of strawberries to use. The recipe was super easy, while I have yet to test the final results they sure do look good! Here is the process!

# 1: Get lots of Strawberries (I had 2 gallons, which was way more than enough) and rinse them all off.#2: Cut off all leaves, stems and bad spots.

#3: Mash the strawberries.

#4: Pour 6 cups of strawberries with 5 cups of sugar into a large pot.

#5: Cook until it is so hot that the bubbles begin to pop.

#6: Then pour into jars and continue with your preference for sealing the jars.

Weekend Plans

Tonight: We are heading to the Eagle's for a Going Away Party for Andy's cousin Amanda. There is bound to be a large family turn out. So who knows when we will make it home.

Saturday: I have to work until noon. Booo! Then I am heading out to my Uncle Larry's Lake House for our Hollis Family Fishing Day! We have these a few times a year. But at this one we are having boat races. NO remote control boats or gas boats, this is an old fashion make your own boat out of plastic bottles and sticks. I have yet to even start making my own, that may be my lunch project today! I don't even know where to start. I have been looking online for ideas, but nothing seems to be catching my eye!

Sunday: Our original plan was to go to the Osage on a float trip. But they are starting really far up the river, so far that for you to complete the float in one day, you have to run your boat down the river for a majority of the trip. I am more of a, give me a floaty and drop me off and I will float my way down. Second of all, we don't own a boat. So Andy was going to borrow his grandpa's boat, which isn't exactly "reliable" for this long of a trip. The decision is still up in the air, but it sounds as if we are not going. Which is a shame because this girl needs a serious tan!

Kiddie Garden!

The Kiddie Garden (in Rolla) is an awesome place to shop for baby stuff! It is like a huge garage sale everyday of the week! People can bring in their used/new baby clothes that may not fit their baby anymore and receive store credit for them. Then they can shop around through stuff that other people have brought in that will fit their growing child. They have everything (clothes, blankets, toys, books, swings, crib bedding, bouncy seats, maternity clothes and sooo much more). Whoever thought of this idea is a genus! Usually an infant wears an outfit once or twice (if at all) and then grows out of if. Then what do you do with it? A lot of the stuff looks brand new or even still have the tags on them and they sell them for dirt cheap.

Betty Crocker in the House!

My energy level has surged in the last couple of weeks. To the point where I keep up with the laundry and house cleaning. The first half of the pregnancy all I wanted to do was sleep! I would come home in the afternoon and take an hour or two nap and still sleep for 8 hours through the night. I just couldn't get enough!

The last couple of nights I have targeted this energy into baking sugar cookies. I ended up making 4 dozen feet shaped cookies topped with blue icing! Check Em Out!

I am sure many of you have heard the firing of Rod Smith from KRCG. I personally can't believe they honstly removed one of the main back-bones on their station. He has always been the main sports reporter. And what about Rod's Big Old Fish? What are they going to have now....Dick's Big Old Fish? Nursery Decor!

I did a little shopping on Saturday and came across a really cute Diaper Bag that I ended up buying. Which made me think that blue & brown would be a good color scheme for the baby's room.
I looked on the Internet and found a few crib sets that would work perfectly. But the more I think about it, the more I am talking myself out of it. All of these sets consist of polka dots and stripes. Something keeps telling me that I am suppose to have animals, trucks, Disney characters as apposed to these modern patterns.

My original plan was to decorate the room that would be universal for either a boy or a girl to account for any future children.







So I need some help and advice. Let me know what you think! Should I go with this idea or should I stick with more traditional? If you do like these examples, which one is your favorite?

Weekend Re-Cap!

Friday: I got the pleasure of leaving work early because of my monthly doctor’s appointment. All went well at the appointment! The baby’s heart rate was 149 and I gained a whopping 5.5 pounds. Damn, that is about all I can say!

I then went to the mall. I first ate some Chinese so I could muster up the energy to do some shopping. I have come to the conclusion that I have picked the best time to be pregnant. The style of clothing that is out now is all flowy and loose fitting. So while I should be shopping in the maternity section, there is no need to when I can buy these stylish/loose clothes in the junior’s/women’s section. I spent entirely too much time walking around the mall for what little I bought.

The money I did end up spending was at Lowe’s. I bought a crap-load of flowers to fill my current mud-garden I have got going on. I bought 16 containers of flowers, each having 6 sections to be planted. So pretty well I get the pleasure of digging 96 holes! I also bought a hanging basket with flowers already in it and I got two rectangle shaped pots that have a lovely mixture of blooms in them.

Saturday: I went to my Barnhart family reunion at my Uncle Larry’s lake house. It was an absolutely beautiful day, despite the wind. Andy didn’t go with me because he was at home putting our new cattle guard in. I didn’t realize this would be a practically all day chore, but now that it is done it looks great!

That evening Andy and I went and ate at the Eagle’s. There wasn’t hardly anyone there and they still managed to burn the crap out of my chicken strips. I ate one and then nibbled on my fries for the rest of the meal. We then left there and went down to Argyle to play some volleyball. I could totally tell it has been since last summer since we had played last. I am out of shape! It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to playing again next weekend.

Sunday: I got started planting my flowers. By the time I had the huge garden in front of our big window finished….I was done for the day. But if I do say so myself, they turned out beautiful! Now let’s see if I can keep them alive. I will try to take some pics and post them. Planting over half of the flowers completely wore me out and it didn’t help that the sun was beating down on me. In the two hours I was out there, I managed to burn my back pretty bad. I didn’t feel it until a couple hours later and then I noticed it had turned completely red. Oppps!

Andy managed to fix our hot water heater….Thank goodness! All of our hot water has been smelling like rotten eggs for the past week or more. It had gotten really bad. I asked my boss here at work if he knew of something we could do about it (because he literally knows everything), and he gave me some instructions on removing a certain part which I forwarded on to Andy and it fixed it! AMEN!

Boy or Girl!

On May 27th, I will be having my ultrasound. After careful thought and consideration we have decided to find out the sex of the baby. In my heart I would really like for it to be a surprise, but the logical and planning side of myself has got to know what we are having. I don’t think Andy cares either way if we find out, even though lately he has seemed really anxious for the day to come. I may have just cursed myself by saying we want to know what we are having. Because the day will probably come, and the baby will play shy and not show us “the goods.”

Because of old wives-tales and genetics it looks as if I may have a girl. Since the baby’s heart rate is fast, I am carrying somewhat high, and the fact that both of Andy’s brother’s first children were girls. But there is something that keeps telling me that it is a boy. Call it a mother’s instinct or it could just be indigestion.

I would love for it to be a little girl. Not only because they are more fun to buy clothes for, but because I love to see how men become such softies when it comes to their little girls. Andy of course is itching for a boy! I guess he wants a little mini-him to pass all of his hunting skills to.

I would like to add a quote from one of my friends in regards to the possibility of me carrying a boy:

“You could be carrying a little wiener inside of you!”

Enough said!

Our appointment is at 9:00am, but Andy and I have opted to take the whole day off. I will have a major urge to do some baby shopping afterwards. We haven’t decided when, if or how we are going to announce the news. We would like the opportunity to tell those closest to us what the results are before the news spreads like wild fire and it gets to some people before we were able to tell them personally. While it may be hard to hold in the news, we will probably wait until that evening and make our rounds to everyone’s house. At least then, everyone will be home for the evening and it won’t spread around their workplace until the next day. Again, giving us a little extra time to spread the news ourselves.

I am super excited and anxious to find out who this little creature is kicking me. Then we could finally begin some serious talking about baby names!

Jokes on Andy!

Every year the Schwartze family butchers pork and beef. Each one is usually a huge family affair that takes all day and a lot of energy. Well, Andy has a bad reputation for taking various bones and wrapping them up and labeling them as steak or roast OR he wraps the correct meat but labels them as something else, like squirrel, crappie, porcupine, dinosaur, etc. He sneaks these packages of meat into other people's coolers so they don't realize it until they go and get something out for dinner and are trying to guess what it in the package labeled Sushi or worst case scenario; when you thaw out a package that is labeled roast and it isn't until it is thawed out and you unwrap it that you find it is a tail bone.

Well this came to bite Andy in the butt last night. When he got come from work he got out two packages of steak and placed them in the sink to thaw out. It wasn't until he returned later and opened the package that he found one of them was nothing more than a big bone! Someone has obviously got him back for doing this to them so he couldn't get mad. It just meant we had to share the one package of steak.

He will never learn!

Weekend Re-Cap

Friday: Andy and I got home about the same time after work. He asked what I wanted to do for the evening. I couldn’t come up with anything, so he suggested we go have dinner at the Eagle’s. Yummy, sounded good to me! He said he was going to go work on the farm for a little while and would be back around 7 – 7:30pm. In the mean time I played around the house and then changed my clothes to get ready for the evening. Well, 7 o’clock came around…..then 7:30…..8:00…..8:30…..then finally at 8:45pm he finally showed up. He walked in the house and knew he was in trouble. He stood at the door with his arms wide open waiting for a hug. So I walked right up to him, whipped out my index finger and started poking him in the chest as I gave him the speech, “You do not tell a pregnant woman that you are taking her out for dinner and show up an hour and a half late! You have been warned!” Since they stop the grill at 9pm at the Eagles, this was no longer an option…..so we had frozen pizza!

Saturday: I worked at the bank until noon. Then I headed home to catch up on the laundry and watch Andy make his rounds on the lawn mower. For the evening we headed to the bowling lanes in Westphalia for a Relay for Life Benefit. This is the second year in a row that we have participated. The family as well wears breast cancer t-shirts. The men’s shirts says “Squeeze a Boob….Save a Life!” and the women’s shirts says “Got Boobs? Get Checked!” (You can see a picture of Andy and I supporting our shirts at last year event to the right on my blog). We all have a blast and are always the loudest ones in attendance! Nothing like donating money for a great cause and having a fun time as well. I had to show this picture of Gerald. Notice he is wearing his shirt, carrying a six pack of beer in one hand and gracefully holding a lovely purse in the other!

Sunday: Andy and I got up early and headed to church in Argyle at 7:15am. After mass we went over to Fred and Eileen’s for breakfast. Since we were the early birds, we helped out in the kitchen before everyone else showed up. We probably ended up eating around 10:30-11am. It was sooo good! Of course, I had biscuits and gravy as well as hash browns, ham, eggs, cinnamon rolls, and strawberries…plus I washed it all down with chocolate milk! After leaving there, we went over to my mom’s for awhile to spend mother’s day with her. We didn’t do much there, just talked and watched some poker games on T.V. The fullness of the large breakfast we had was begging to kick in, so Andy and I headed home for an afternoon nap! We woke in time to make spaghetti for supper and watch the 3-hour finale of Survivor. All in all….it was a pretty successful Mother’s Day.

Weekend Re-Cap!

Saturday: I attended my cousin’s daughter Eva’s 2nd birthday party. I can’t believe she is two years old. She wasn’t even two months old at my wedding…meaning Andy and I have almost been married for two years. OMG! Where does the time go? I couldn’t stay very long, but I made sure that I got to hold Troy while I was there. I just can’t get enough of him and all of his hair. He is so sweet!

After leaving there, Andy and I headed to Jeff City to meet Kevin and Kelly. They got in with us and then we went to Columbia to eat at HuHots! We have been really excited to take them there since they are huge Chinese fans we thought this would be right up their alley. Even though this is Mongolian food and not Chinese, it is the same concept. I think the only difference is the Chinese use more rice while the Mongolian use more noodles. I totally just made that up, but it sounded good! Anyway the evening was a success. I believe Kevin and Kelly were a little scared and intimidated when we arrived (which is exactly how Andy and I felt the first time we ate there), but after they tasted the food they enjoyed it as much as Andy and I had.

To wrap up the evening after stuffing ourselves full, we went across the street to Andy’s Custard. No matter how much you have eaten for supper, you are always able to fill in the cracks with some ice creams! Yum!

Sunday: I made a huge Wal-Mart trip! I believe my time is limited to how much longer I will be able to handle these trips by myself. I was completely exhausted by the time I got out of there, but then I had to go home and unload it all. By the time I was done, I was starving. So I rewarded myself with some Spaghetti-O’s!

For the rest of the afternoon I was bumming on the couch watching movies. Then my aunt Sharon showed up. She is part of the Historical Society and is making her rounds to all of the local cemeteries to update/record all of the information on the stones. Which is very time consuming, but she really enjoys doing this. Anyway, there is a cemetery on Donnie and Shanda’s land and she wanted to go back there and verify all the information. So we headed down the hill, picked up Holly (because I couldn’t remember exactly how to get there) hopped in the Ranger and took Sharon to her destination. I had been by the cemetery many times before, but had never walked through it. The stones are huge. They are about 9-10 feet tall.

That evening we had a BBQ down at Donnie and Shanda’s. At which Brian spilled the beans on Andy being moved to the day shift at ABB. Apparently Andy has known for the last few weeks that he would no longer be working nights starting TODAY! You would think this would be important information for me to know, but anytime this happens he likes to save the news for the last minute. While I feel this is good news for now (despite his snoring last night) I have a feeling it won’t last long. He likes to evolve the shift he works around his hunting schedule. That is going to change come October when the baby is here!

Sweet Nothings!

Last night Tina and I headed over to April’s house. I went there because April was retiring some of her baby stuff and I wanted to see if there was anything I could take off of her hands. I walked away with a really nice bassinet and a swing for practically nothing. April takes immaculate care of everything she owns so I knew when I was going over there that the stuff would look practically new. While we were there we played with both of her kids Jessi and Grant. They are sooo cute and were ready to play when we got there! Poor April must have her hands full with two kids so close together in age, but she balances them both very well. Kudos to her!

I also had a pregnancy milestone last night. I felt the baby move. As in move, I mean it felt like a somersault. They say the feeling of a kick feels like a flutter. Well I have had those sensations before, but had never been for sure if it were the baby or not. That was until last night. After I felt the baby move, I sat still for like ten minutes waiting to feel it again. And of course I didn’t, even after I tried poking my belly trying to provoke it. No such luck, but it was exciting at the time!

Despite me writing on my blog, I am trying to get a lot of stuff together this morning because I am leaving to head to Columbia for an insurance seminar. Boring! But I am eating at Sonic on the way there, so that makes the trip worth it!

Disturbing Dream!

Have you ever had a dream so real that you woke up pissed at the person you were mad at in the dream? That happened to me last night. It was a strange dream that I can’t help but tell because it seemed so real. Anyway…

I dreamt that I had to have an emergency c-section 2 months early. If that wasn’t stressful enough, Andy wasn’t there with me! Not just in the OR but he wasn’t at the hospital at all! I had to go through the whole surgery experience alone. And I was sooo mad at him!!!

Even though my baby was two months early, HE (yep it was a boy) weighed 8lbs 6oz….so much for premature. THEN….He was born with a whole mouth full of teeth! (I can’t make this shit up!) And what made it worse was that I was completely embarrassed by him! How bad of a mother am I?

Then the only people that came to the hospital was my mom and my step-grandma Milly. I don’t know if the news had spread about the baby being born with teeth and everyone was too scared to come visit.

All in all, I woke up this morning completely pissed at Andy that he never showed up. I told him about it when he called me on his way home from work. I told him he better damn well make sure he is at the hospital when I have this child. I think he may be a little scared to come home this evening. Oopps!

I also woke up depressed that I was actually embarrassed by my child. How awful is that? I can’t get that out of my head. Isn’t the love for your child supposed to be instantaneous? Wow, I am reading way too much into this! I guess we will see what happens come October!

Big Brother!

This is one of my all-time favorite reality TV shows. It requires a lot of dedication because it is on 3 days a week. But when you are a huge fan you begin to evolve your life around not missing an episode. This past season was the first that was aired during the winter months. Usually it is a summer show, but I am assuming because of the writers’ strike that they threw an additional season in the works. Fine by me, because I am usually counting down the months/weeks before the new season begins.

This past Sunday was the finale, and I walked away so disappointed that the guy I had been rooting for since day one (Ryan-right) was defeated by this Shrek looking idiot (Adam-left)! The last seven people voted out of the house are the ones who make the decision who of the finial two are deserving of the half a million dollars. The votes were 6 for Adam and 1 for Ryan! I was mad! I can’t wait for all of those jury members to go and watch all the episodes. Then they will see what I saw…which was that Ryan was the good guy and Adam was the worthless one that relied on everyone else to do the dirty work.

This season was full of so much drama! I am so glad all of those jury members were where they were and not seated in the final two, because I couldn’t stand any of them. I can’t wait until July, because that is when the next season of Big Brother is scheduled to begin!

Employee Banquet!

After 6 years Andy finally took me to my Senior Prom! Well….kind of! It was actually an Employee Banquet held by the bank. But the environment was totally that of a prom. It was held at Meramec Wilderness Ranch in Steelville, MO. The scenery was beautiful despite the chilly weather. The invitations we received asked that we wear formal wear…I don’t think so! I was not going to try to squeeze myself into one of my old prom dresses or go purchase a new dress that I will never wear again. I ended up wearing black pants and a cute top and I dressed Andy up in Khakis and a blue buttoned up shirt. I literally had to dig out dress clothes for Andy, press them, and have them hung and ready for him. If I would have let him decide, he would have worn jeans, a t-shirt, a hat and made it formal by wearing his good watch instead of his cheap velcro one! He only threw a small fit when he seen what I had picked out for him. But after he was all dressed and ready to go…..He was so handsome!

Did I mention the theme for the night was “People’s Choice Awards?” Anyway, when we made our way up to the building they literally had a red carpet for us to walk down. If that wasn’t corny enough, when we got inside we got our picture taken in front of a prom-like background. You know the ones with the cardboard pillars and fabric draped behind us. They snapped a couple pictures of Andy and I and then we went on our merry way. They later told us that they will be developing these pictures and placing them in a fancy silver picture frame for us to keep. I am serious; we were at an employee banquet and didn’t get lost and walk into a high school prom!

When we sent in our RSVP’s we had to specify if we wanted “Steak or Chicken.” So when you hear that, you automatically think grilled steak and grilled chicken. Boy was I wrong! It was grilled steak but I had ordered the chicken. It looked like a large fish stick! They called it Chicken Cordon Bleu. Not exactly the best meal I have ever eaten, but if it were a life and death situation, I would be willing to eat it again. It wasn’t absolutely terrible, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. Andy got the steak and he was very pleased with his.

Sorry change of subject, but Footloose just came on the radio! This takes me back to many wedding dances of Holly and I cutting a rug and wheezing like crazy as we did the dance to this song. Good times!

Sorry…back to the theme! In the weeks prior to the banquet we got to nominate and vote for fellow employees for different categories. Such as most humorous, most athletic, Mr & Ms Congeniality, most talented, etc. Congratulations go to Vienna’s community President Quentin Satterfield for winning Mr. Congeniality! He was a shoe-in! Everyone loves this man and I am so glad that he is my boss. You can’t ask for anyone better than him. He literally knows everything and it will be a sad day at FCNB when he retires for good. I hate to even think of that day, because I respect this man so much. Vienna has never been better since he has come to work with us!

All in all, it was a great evening! It was fun to see everyone that I had previously worked with in Steeville and Rolla. I was disappointed that Katie didn't show up! Just kidding girl...but we did miss you!

Hell Yeah!

President Bush on Friday touted the roughly $168 billion in rebates set to begin reaching Americans by Monday as a means of breathing life into a sluggish economy.

"The money is going to help Americans offset the high prices we're seeing at the gas pumps and the grocery store and will also give our economy a boost to help us pull out of this economic slowdown," he said during brief remarks at the White House.

Bush said that beginning Monday "more than 7 million Americans will receive their rebates electronically." On May 9, millions more would receive their payments by paper check, he said. Roughly 130 million households are expected to get the rebates.

The economic stimulus package, which offers up to $600 to individual taxpayers and $1,200 to couples, also provides an additional $300 in rebates for each child and for non-taxpaying

families. It was suggested by the White House and Congress approved the measure in January.

Weekend Re-Cap!

Friday Night: To be known as my first emotional breakdown of this pregnancy…and it was a good one! The reasoning = Food! I was starving, and nothing sounded good. I had been hungry all day. I would eat and then 20 minutes later I was hungry all over again. So when Andy got home at around 7pm I was at my wits end. Having not eaten anything since 4 o’clock, my stomach was hurting to the point I think it was eating itself. Andy asked what was for supper, and I told him I didn’t know because we didn’t have anything to eat and I was HUNGRY! This didn’t faze him one bit so I got up and started digging thru the pantry and fridge like a freaking animal. It is not like we didn’t have anything. We have enough meat in the freezer to last us all year long, but nothing was catching my eye! This is the point when the water started flowing. I couldn’t help but cry. Andy (being more irritated than sincere) asked me what I wanted. The first thing that came to my mind was pizza. So he stormed off and put his shoes on and ran to town. He brought back six boxes of frozen pizza. This hit the spot and went down great, even though you could cut the tension with a knife for the rest of the night. It is going to be a long 9 months!

Saturday: I was Miss Productive! I did a lot of house cleaning while watching an entire season of America’s Next Top Model that I had already seen two times, but still miss the last episode to find out who wins! Andy spent the whole day (literally) in Meta at an auction and ended up coming home with a large tractor rake. When he returned we headed to the Eagles for supper. We got there too late for the dessert auction, but it sounded as if everything went really high.

Sunday: It was GORGEOUS! Kelly and I went for a walk and actually broke a sweat! The whole immediate family headed down to Donnie and Shanda’s for a BBQ for Donnie’s birthday (which is actually Tomorrow!) The food was excellent!

Despite Friday evening, it was a great weekend!

Dr. Appt.

All went as scheduled at the doctors appoinment. The baby's heart rate was 158bpm. And I had gained 3 pounds. THREE! Holy Shit! I was thinking maybe 2, but that third pound has completely thrown me over the edge!

I made my next appointment for the 16th of May. They told me the hospital would be calling me to schedule the ultrasound. Which they did this morning. I was told I could get it for the same day since I live out of town. Well according to the lady on the phone (she obviously was not having a good morning!), that was not going to happen because they wanted to make sure I was at least 20 weeks along. Come one....it is 10 days! But she wouldn't budge, so my ultrasound appointment in on May 27th.

Due to the fact that Andy had a hole in his heart when he was born, they will be doing additional test and looking more closely at the baby's heart during the ultrasound. If they can't get a clear view to see if everything is fine, they will then send me on to the University Hospital to some more "high-tech" ultrasound.

All in all, (except for the 3 lbs) everything went good!

Today's Plans!

Today I am leaving work a little early to go to another doctor's appointment. It should just be a normal check up. I am curious to see what the baby's heart rate is, to see if it has changed any. I am excited that I should get the "go ahead" to make the appointment for my ultrasound next month. I am not excited about seeing my weight. I am predicting that I have gone up a couple of pounds. I can tell you that the expanding belly has been a roller coaster ride. I have gone this whole time without showing (except when after I eat) until last week when I my belly swelled up and failed to go back down. That was until yesterday morning when I woke and my belly had deflated back to its "somewhat normal state." Not to say my pants aren't still tight, I just don't have that 6 month belly I was carrying around for 4 days. This is going to be a fun ride!!!

After my appointment, I am heading to CoMo to see my new God Child. If all goes as Beth wants, then Troy will have not flipped and remain in the breached position. Then the C-Section will go as planned and he will be born sometime after Noon today. How exciting. Andy and I found ourselves last night wonder what John and Beth were doing at that very moment. If they were enjoying their last night together by themselves? I wish them the best of luck, and I know they will be excellent parents!

Weekend Re-Cap!

Friday: At the last minute, I decided to take off of work on Friday to hit up the Wardsville garage sales. It sucks to take a day off of work and get up earlier than if I was going to work. Oh Well! We first hit up a garage sale in Westphalia, which is where I did the best at. They had a lot of baby clothes. I bought mostly yellow and green outfits with the exception of the cute Halloween outfit I bought. All of the other garage sales were mostly picked over since the sales started on Thursday, but we were still able to find things we didn’t need. Here are pics of some of the things I bought!

Saturday: As it fell, this was my scheduled Saturday to work so I had to come in after my day off. That evening I went over to Carrie’s house for an Uppercase Living party. Even though I haven’t even put up anything from my own party, I still bought a couple of things for the baby’s room. I bought one that said, All Because Two People Fell in Love, and the other one said, In Photos, Babies Stay Babies Forever.

Sunday: We attended a first communion celebration. The food was excellent, especially the cake! The plan was to go mushroom hunting after eating, but since the weather was not cooperating we all just stayed inside. After leaving there, Andy and I headed home and manned our positions on each of our couches and took a nap. We woke in time to eat supper, watch Big Brother and then pop in the Alvin and the Chipmunks DVD.

Temporary Absent!

Alright...I haven't completely abandoned my blog. I just haven't had the opportunity to write anything. I swear, I will be back!

I'm Going to be a God Parent!

As the current plans go, Troy John is scheduled to be delivered 4/15/2008 via c-section. John David and Beth are really excited that their son will finally be born! C-Sections are so routine now, that they have no fears and glad that it has come to this as opposed to a long delivery. The hard part they are trying to deal with is calming down my aunt Sharon and reassuring her that everything will be fine! Got to love a worry-wart!

They came over to the house last night for a couple of hours to catch up on things. At which they asked me to be Troy's Godmother! That completely took me by surprise! But at which I graciously accepted! I am super excited and can't wait to see if he has as much hair as John David did when he was born!

Embarrassing Moment!

Ok yesterday I headed down to Margie’s Café to get my daily ½ order of Biscuits and Gravy! YUMMY! B&G a day…Keeps the morning sickness away!

When I walked up into the restaurant, it was about half full of customers. I noticed my Bro-in-law Kevin was in there eating breakfast. So I proceeded to harass him about not being at work (even though he was eating with his boss!) As I turned back around to the counter to pay for my to-go order, I got a glimpse of a bunch of men sitting at a booth looking at me. At which one of them proceeded to ask if I was the “Billboard Girl!” I replied back, “Yah, that’s me!”

(If you are lost at this point, my place of employment has purchased a huge billboard along HWY 63, with a big-ass picture of myself on it! Believe me…this was not my decision!)

Anyway, all of the men started a round of applause and hollering about me being famous and a celebrity, in front of everyone in the restaurant! I was so embarrassed and humiliated! I could feel my face getting bright red.

After hurrying to pay for my order, I was getting ready to leave when I heard Kevin holler across the restaurant, “See ya Billboard Girl!”

Pregnant Man...My A**!

I cannot resist talking about this story. It disturbs me to no end! It has been broadcast all over the news as well as on the Oprah show.

“World’s First Pregnant Man!”

At first this story really sucked me in, because it was just a few weeks ago on T.V. that I saw a woman that was pregnant with twins. And one of the twins actually grew outside the uterus. And the big discussion on there was if a woman can carry a healthy child in that manner, then why can’t a man carry a child? So when I had seen these previews for the Oprah show my first reaction was, “Damn, they really did it! A man can now bear the burden of pregnancy!” Obviously not the delivery part considering where the baby would have to come out of!!!! HeHe! There is an image for you!

So I was extremely interested in this story. I had set to record it on my DVR a few days prior. So when I got home on Thursday I made my bowl of cereal and grabbed a stick of string cheese and got comfortable on the couch, to watch this anticipated story.

My first reaction……….He’s a woman! He’s not even truly a man! He was born a woman, meaning he has an inny, not an outy! He is a transsexual, but made the decision not to remove his female anatomy. So what is the big deal about this story? Just because a woman can take testosterone pills and have her breast removed, does not make her a man!

Speaking of testosterone….do you know all the effects of taking them? Yah you grow facial, chest, and arm pit hair and develop a deeper voice. But did you know you actually develop a small wiener? I crap you not! This he/she was actually able to have intercourse with his wife! I have never heard such a thing! Pretty disturbing!

My main point of this story is HE IS A SHE and will always be a she no matter how much testosterone he/she takes! I am disappointed in Oprah for leading us on thinking we have hit some scientific milestone.

Closing Remarks: EWWWWW!

Mistaken Identity!

Nearly two years ago a tragic vehicle accident occurred that killed 5 people instantly. The Cerek family got the dreaded phone call that their daughter Whitney was killed on impact, while the Van Ryn family got the call that their daughter Laura was still alive but in critical condition. It wasn't until 5 weeks after the accident that the Van Ryn's began to question if the girl in the hospital bed was indeed their daughter. After receiving dental records, it was proved that the girl that the Cerek's had buried 5 weeks earlier was not their daughter Whitney, it was Laura Van Ryn who was thought to be recovering in a local hospital. Whitney Cerek was the girl alive! What great news for the Cerek's, but how devastating for the Van Ryn's who never left the girl who they thought was their daughter's side in the hospital and that their real daughter had already been buried by another family.

Some of you may have already heard about this story, but just now the families are coming out to speak about what had happened. I am completely intrigued by this story. Both families were on the Oprah show yesterday telling their story. I was a sobbing mess throughout the whole episode. Both families have joined together and wrote a book about what had happened. The book is called Mistaken Identity. This will defiantly be my next purchase.

April Fools!

We pulled a pretty good prank on Jill here at work yesterday. Without Jill’s knowledge, we had ordered flowers to be delivered to her. The funny part….we put that they were from a not so attractive person of the community. We watched as Angie (Flower Basket owner) delivered them into Jill’s office as she was on the phone. Jill proceeded to open the card, and her jaw dropped to her desk. It was hilarious!!! She came out of her office (flowers in one hand, card in the other) holding them as if they were covered in poop! She was completely speechless! She made it as far as to the desk in the lobby that is right outside of her office and said it was worth the walk for all of us to come to her and read who the card was from. One by one, we read the card (as if we didn’t already know what it said) and reacted in the same manner as she did! Finally after a few minutes of leading her on, we hollered “APRIL FOOLS!” She responded by saying, “THANK YOU!” She was just so glad that it was a prank and not real!

My fear: Pay backs are Hell!

Long Weekend Re-Cap!

Friday Night: We went for supper out at the Eagle’s. After filling ourselves full, we went over to Kevin and Kelly’s to watch the movie I am Legend. Before we started the movie, Andy and I had to play a round of ping-pong as Kevin and Kelly were putting Aubrey to bed for the evening. I really like ping-pong because it doesn’t require a lot of skill. You just have to be somewhat quick and attempt to hit the ball in a difficult spot for your opponent. Most of my hits are in self defense, so you never know where the ball is going to go. The movie was pretty good. I didn’t care for the ending, but considering the topic I guess they did a pretty good job.

Saturday: Andy and I made our way to Kansas City. The trip actually went pretty fast until we made it into Kansas City and got stuck in road construction for about a half an hour. I always meet my dad at a particular Burger King, well to our surprise the Burger King was no longer there….but they still had the parking lot. So when we pulled up, there sat Dad and Denise along with my grandparents! I didn’t know they were going to be there also, so that was an extra surprise.

We then headed to the Ameristar Casino…which was awesome! I had never been in a casino like that. You walk in the doors and it looks like you just walked outside. It was like walking in a downtown area. There were buildings/stores and restaurants on each side of the street you were walking on. But you were inside! They had the ceiling all painted to look like clouds. It was really neat. We ate at the buffet, which was an experience in itself. They had everything you could think of. I ate country fried steak, crab rangoon, pancakes, potato casserole, chocolate cake and ice cream! (This could explain my weight gain this week)

After we ate, it was time for me to present my dad with his present. I tried to throw him off by saying it was an early birthday present. After looking at the frame and he looked up at me and asked if there was something I need to say. At which I told them all we were having a baby. They were all really excited, but proceeded to tell us they had already suspected that we were expecting. WHAT? They are in a completely different state! How could they have suspected? We floored our other families with the news. Either way, they were really excited about becoming Grandparents!

Afterwards as a way to spend more time together, we went shopping. Where you ask….Bass Pro! I have to admit I had a pretty good time looking around. After looking around for an hour or so, we said our goodbyes and headed our separate ways. We got back to Columbia around 6pm, too early to eat after our huge buffet lunch. So we went shopping again! Where you ask….Bass Pro! Is anyone else getting Déjà vu? That’s right we hit up two Bass Pro’s in one day and was tempted enough to head all the way south to Springfield to make it three. Here is where we actually did some shopping. Here are a couple things we bought: A plush deer and a camo pacifier!

Finally we made our way to HuHots! Damn this place is awesome! It is so full every time we go there. It’s obviously a huge hit in Columbia. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love their food. It is just something you have to try. I was highly impressed with Andy; he ate his whole meal with chop sticks! I attempted to use them, but I came to the point where I was stabbing at the meat trying to pick it up. Obviously not the correct technique!
